The Army Rapid Capabilities Office http://rapidcapabilitiesoffice.army.mil/ was created to expedite the delivery of critical combat materiel capabilities to the Warfighter to meet Combatant Commanders’ needs. The Office is headquartered in the National Capital Region.

The Army Rapid Capabilities Office:

  • executes rapid prototyping and initial equipping of capabilities, particularly in the areas of cyber, electronic warfare, survivability and positioning, navigation and timing (PNT), as well as other priority projects that will enable Soldiers to decisively operate and win in contested environments.
  • is primarily focused on the highest priority Army requirements with an intent to deliver an operational effect within one to five years. This mission is complementary to Programs of Record that aim deeper into the future and to equip the entire Army for the full spectrum of war.
  • is distinct from the Army Rapid Equipping Force http://www.ref.army.mil , which typically has a turnaround time of less than a year and delivers specific equipment to meet the urgent operational needs of forward-deployed units.

Within the Army Rapid Capabilities Office, there is a dedicated cell called the Emerging Technologies Office (ETO) http://rapidcapabilitiesoffice.army.mil/eto/ . The ETO mission is to directly, and continuously, align, understand and drive academia, industry and Science & Technology solutions to near-term and emerging threats with development and demonstration of revolutionary new capabilities while leveraging innovation by other government agencies and industry partners. Industry partners and other parties who desire to share information with the Emerging Technologies Office should click the "Submit a Technology" button below.
