Description :

The Special Operations Medical Group (SWMG) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is interested in a medical simulations capability to teach Special Operations Force’s (SOF) medics the skills required to surgically gain access to the abdomen and right upper abdominal quadrant to control non-compressible hemorrhage.

The simulation can be physical, Virtual, Augmented, or Mixed-Reality (AR/VR/XR), or a combination of those approaches. The simulation should be reproducible, with minimal reset time, and should provide realistic haptic and tactile feedback to the student.

The system should provide the capability to verify the success or failure of the procedure being performed with feedback available to students and instructors in real-time or in a delayed presentation for purposes of reinforcing, improving, or reteaching. The system should be functional in an academic and deployed setting. The system should use an open digital architecture that can be modified, enhanced, or updated with minimal human interaction.
